Our Mission
In the Social Connections Lab, our research focuses on the intersections of culture, context, and human development, with a particular focus on the social and emotional development of adolescents. We are interested in how schools, families, and peers, as well as larger political and economic contexts influence developmental trajectories. The study of social identities, including gender and racial/ethnic identities, and the effects of gender and ethnic/racial stereotypes on adjustment and friendship are also central to our work. We seek to foster connectedness despite our differences, and work towards recognizing our common humanity.
